If you have ever watched the show “Home Improvement” with well known actor and comedian Tim Allen, then you are familiar with the phrase, “What do we need? MORE POWER!”. That phrase couldn’t be more accurate when talking about the new 2020 Ford Super Duty Trucks. Today we are going to focus on the F-250 specifically.
Super Duty
The Ford Super Duty® line of trucks is the only line of trucks in its class built with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body. If you are not familiar with how the aluminum-alloy body stacks up against its previously used steel body, we will break it down for you here. Not only is aluminum less likely to rust and more resistant to dents, but aluminum is significantly lighter and surprisingly stronger. The savings in weight allowed Ford to reinvest that weight into the frame of the truck and beef up its foundation.
Engine Power
With three powertrain options, the F-250 is ready to hold its own weight during your workday. The standard 6.2L flex-fuel gas V8 is there to give you peak torque at lower rpms while also generating high torque throughout the midrange of the powerband. Producing an impressive 385 horsepower and 430 lb. -ft. of torque, this standard engine is ready for anything straight out of the gate.
If you are looking for more of a commercial-grade durability, performance, and efficiency, the upgraded 7.3L OHV PFI V8 may be the option for you. This 7.3L engine is an overhead-valve, port fuel-injected powerhouse which delivers 430 horsepower and 475-lb. ft. of torque.
Saving the best for last in this powerful lineup, is the available newly upgraded 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel. Upgraded for 2020, this impressive engine has a new 36,000-psi fuel-injection system. Combine that with the stronger block, cylinder heads, connector rods, bearings, and the new forged-steel pistons, you will be blown away at the 475 hp and staggering 1,050 lbs.-ft. of torque it seamlessly delivers for you.
Towing / Payload Capacity
With three different engine options there is a variety of different towing capacities for the F-250 depending on the chosen configuration. The baseline configuration of a F-250 SRW 4x4 Crew Cab Long Box with its standard 6.2L gas 6-speed V8 engine, starts us out at a maximum payload of 3,040 lbs and a maximum towing capacity up to 12,900 lbs.
If you desire a bit more payload allowance, the F-250 SRW 4x2 Regular Cab Long Box is able to handle a maximum 4,260 lbs payload. On the other hand, if towing capacity is more what you're looking for, then the F-250 4x2 Regular Cab with 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel V8 will deliver a maximum ability to tow 22,800 lbs with the Fifth-Wheel/Gooseneck configuration.
Technology
With an incredible array of standard and available technology, this truck will surely connect your professional, personal, and home life in a way you never thought possible.
If you’re towing, allow the AdvanceTrac® (with Roll Stability Control® and Trailer Sway Control), Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System get you and your trailer to any destination safely and conveniently.
